The ABC’s of Education Law in Pennsylvania

Not many attorneys practice in the specialty of education law in Pennsylvania. There are various types of education law, but the areas of students with disabilities who require support or accommodation, and other issues involving sports participation and students receive the most publicity.
However, I will specifically address what a student, usually in college, graduate school, professional school, or involved in a related internship or residency program, can do if they encounter problems with the educational institution they are attending. Their difficulties usually derive from academic discipline or academic performance issues. Sometimes, one or both of these issues are interconnected, with a student who has or develops mental or physical problems, and is not being accommodated in the fashion they request or should be accommodated, but the academic institution or program does not recognize their problem or requested accommodations.
